Empty Mynd– What Is The Music Industry Coming To?

I just had the privilege of meeting Empty and receiving a signed album of his. (of course, I payed for it). As many now known artists, have had in the past before making it through the music industry, he seems to have been through some hard times lately, but I thought it was very eye-opening seeing this man walk the streets selling his album. Although I’m not a big fan of rap, I thought he deserved the support, especially since the music industry has taken such a monstrous turn in their fixation with American Idol contestants and public appeal, rather than focusing on talent that has been made possible through time and hard work. Such examples of this are Alicia Keys, Michael Jackson (yes, I will add him. Not only is he a natural in talent, but he’s a relative of mine- and what can I say, I’m partial =) ), Boys II Men, Jewel, Jimi Hendrix, John Mayer, Steven Tyler, Billie Holiday— the list can go on and on…. Another example is that of music piracy. We all know of the musical artists that release singles through iTunes before releasing the album to the public? Because as soon as it’s out, it’s pirated. I am aware that nothing I or any lawyer or music industry can do will be able to stop this as well. A career as a musician surely has it’s cons.
Here’s Empty Mynd’s Myspace, in case you’re needing encouragement or want to know more about him.http://www.myspace.com/emptymynd

I’ll tell you the rap and hip-hop industry is coming to an end if we don’t find any more rappers like Tupac and soon.
