Led by Juan Formell, Los Van Van have become one of the most successful son groups in the world. To the Afro-Spanish sound of traditional Cuban music, Los Van Van have added a strong jazz emphasis. It is this fusion that has led to their popularity outside of Cuba and to a series of foreign record deals. They can be heard on Songo, Sandunguera, and Dancing Wet. The group released Azucar on the Xenophile label in 1995; La Habana Si followed a year later, and Los Van Van remained a prolific presence throughout the decade, releasing albums including 1997′s Con la Salsa Formell and 1999′s {Llego Van Van}. www.latinogrooves.com

Saw Los Van Van in the eighties in Cuba and it was one of the best gigs of my life, thank you to them for lifting the spirits of three Irish people on their first visit to that most wonderful of countries

Che, todo bien con la sinceridad, pero cuando tirás mierda no la fumamos todos viste. Si no te gusta todo bien, pero tirar caca para arriba para que nos caiga a todos encima no esta bueno. La música como todo arte tiene una parte subjetiva que esta en el espectador que interpreta la obra. A todos nos puede gustar o no alguna cosa la cuestión no es tratar a todo lo que no nos gusta como la mierda y bardear al pedo y encima justificarlo con estudios académicos. Ser un buen tipo esta bueno también.

@YaakovSchultz Yo no me voy a poner a discutir contigo, me encanta Irakere, pero no puedes decir que esto no es música, es distinto, es otro género y no menciones a Andrea Boccelli porque ni siquiera es un buen tenor, muchos aquí hemos escrito música sinfónica y nos gusta Van Van, crees que todos aquí somos ignorantes, te equivocas, aprende a apreciar todo si es que te crees músico y tus remates en francés y latín no impresionan a nadie.
