I remember playing this 40+ times every day for about 9 months when it came out!! It’s still one of my all time favourite songs, along with Don Henley’s ‘Boys of Summer’!

@ewoldt Madonna’s version of American pie was okay. Still, the original is most of the time better in my opinion.

I think that’s one of the all time best lyrics ever. “Ma’am I am tonight.” I have a strong Christian background, but that expresses the way I sometimes feel perfectly. Just part of being human and having doubts, but also having hope.

this is fantastic… hearing it live and his little “chat” before he started it off. I do miss the organ and the gospel choir in the studio version, though. But if you want purity, this is it.
