Question by UnknownRapname: If someone gets signed to a major record label or infact any record label do they get given alump sum of cash?

Do Rappers / singers & artists in general get a lump sum of cash from major record label’s or any record labels at all? to kick start their life / career like e.g ‘Interscope gives one of their artists $ 100,000 to help them settle down or something along the lines of that’ ?? iv always wondered for numerous years but never felt to search / ask ..
now im curious since im trying to get into the rap game.

PLEASE SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY, I really really need to know for my wellbeing! and decisions ill make in life will rely on this..,

thanks

    you'dwonder. Says:

Nope, they don’t get any money.

they only thing they get resources like a producer, studio time, band merchandise, someone to play them a tour.

overall, they get very little of the money they make from selling cds and get most of there money from playing live shows. any money they make has to be shard with record labels, booking agents, managments, producers, engineers etc etc. so in the end, theres only a little left for them.

if you want to live a comfortable life, with a 60k salary every year or something along the lines of that – then music is not for you..
