The string on this swab is about a foot shorter than the otherwise identical swab I am replacing. (The previous swab got caught and tore after years of use.) So this means that, after you drop the lead weight through the sax, you have to then reach inside the bell of the sax to retrieve the weight so you can pull the swab through the sax. So you get the joy of having all that moisture on your hand/wrist/arm. This is completely unacceptable. With my previous swab, I dropped the string through, tilted the sax forward so the weight would fall out of the bell and then, I just pulled the string and the swab through. I did not have to reach inside the sax to retrieve the weight. I mean, come on! How much money did Hodge save by shortening the string a few inches? This is the kind of ridiculously cheap cost saving measure that is completely and infuriatingly unjustifiable. This product is completely unacceptable and I am returning it immediately.

These is not a professional cleaning swab, you may want to invest a little more if you are looking for the best. But these product is well constructed, it seems to work fine with my saxophone and its a good deal for the price I paid

Different from the image shown, the item delivered was without a string, which makes this swab not adequate for a sax.
